Testing Laboratory

ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation in Progress

What is ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation?

ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation is an international recognition of a testing laboratory’s competence. It ensures that the laboratory adheres to strict standards of quality, precision, and reliability of results.

Advantages for Manufacturers Using a Laboratory Compliant with ISO/IEC 17025 Standards:

  • Reliable Results: Tests conducted in an accredited laboratory ensure results that are recognized and comply with international standards, using measurement instruments traceable to the International System of Units (SI).
  • Continuous Improvement: By adhering to ISO/IEC 17025, the laboratory adopts a quality-driven approach and rigorous monitoring of its methods, optimizing internal processes and enhancing team efficiency.
  • International Recognition: Results from an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory are accepted by regulatory bodies and businesses worldwide, facilitating access to international markets.

It is important to note that the COMEX laboratory accreditation will be granted by COFRAC (French Accreditation Committee), the only body authorized in France to provide this recognition. This collaboration assures industrial players that the services provided by COMEX meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – ISO/IEC 17025 Laboratory

Which equipment is tested in the ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory at COMEX?

Our laboratory specializes in testing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for diving, including regulators, diving suits, masks, pressure gauges, and other specific accessories. (Refer to the Scope of Application section for more details.)

What is the difference between the tests conducted by the laboratory and the certification from the Notified Body?

The COMEX laboratory performs technical tests to verify the compliance of equipment with standards or protocols. Once these tests are successfully completed, our Notified Body proceeds with the CE conformity certification, which is essential for placing Category II and III PPE on the European market (learn more on our Notified Body page).

Do laboratory tests include real-world condition testing?

Yes, we conduct practical tests under real diving conditions with experienced divers to ensure the performance, ergonomics, and reliability of your equipment in its intended usage environment.

What documents are provided at the end of the tests?

At the conclusion of the tests, you will receive a detailed test report, an official document that proves your equipment’s compliance with applicable standards. This report is essential for the CE certification process.

Can I receive support to improve the performance of my equipment?

No, our laboratory does not assist in improving the performance of your equipment. However, we can support you in developing customized testing protocols tailored to your specific needs.

Is the laboratory authorized to test equipment other than diving gear?

Although our primary expertise lies in diving equipment, our laboratory is equipped to conduct other technical tests. Please contact us to confirm whether your equipment qualifies for our testing services.
