CE certification of life jackets

Starting in june 2026, COMEX is expanding its activities with the launch of a dedicated service for the testing and CE certification of life jackets. This new capability relies on an in-house testing laboratory and real-condition testing facilities, supporting manufacturers wishing to market their equipment in Europe.

A new service dedicated to European manufacturers

COMEX now supports life jacket manufacturers in their access to the European market by carrying out the required testing and contributing to the CE certification process.

TThis service is intended for life jacket manufacturers seeking to validate the compliance of their personal flotation equipment. equipment.

Testing in compliance with ISO 12402 standards

The testing scope covers the different categories of life jackets (50N, 100N, 150N, 275N), in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 12402 series.

Depending on the type of life jacket and its buoyancy level, several categories of tests can be performed:

  • Buoyancy and stability tests
  • Automatic turning tests
  • Water entry and immersion behavior tests
  • Performance assessment with human subjects
  • Ageing and resistance tests
  • Mechanical and material durability tests

These protocols make it possible to verify equipment performance under conditions close to real operational use.

A fully integrated testing laboratory

All testing activities are performed internally within the COMEX testing laboratory.

Mechanical tests, including resistance and stretching tests, are carried out using specialized equipment to ensure the reliability of the results.

This fully integrated testing capability provides several advantages:

  • Full control of testing protocols
  • High responsiveness in test execution
  • Consistency of results
  • Reduced lead times

Expertise built in extreme environments

This new activity is fully aligned with COMEX’s long-standing expertise in the evaluation of safety equipment used in constrained and extreme environments.

Drawing on its experience in the hyperbaric, maritime, and industrial sectors, COMEX leverages its technical know-how to support manufacturers in validating their personal flotation devices.

With this expansion of its capabilities, COMEX strengthens its position as a key player in the testing and certification of safety equipment, combining regulatory rigor with realistic testing conditions.
